I attended the Area 7 NJROTC State Championship Competition at Oviedo HS on Saturday and wanted to share it with you, and encourage you to attend next year. If you even go for just an hour next spring, you'll be "hooked" and want to stay. This is an annual competition from all Area 7 NJROTC units that starts at 0730 and ends at 1700, with some schools driving many hours to attend...a very long day. The enthusiasm of these young men and women is contagious and will give you great confidence that there are young patriots ready to serve. You will also see some incredibly dedicated Naval Science Instructors and volunteers that make this event a bigger success every year. It was gratifying to see our Active Duty and Reserve Military Commands really step out in support, the Navy gang led by Capt. Dave Grimland and Master Chief Mike Wehmer representing NAWCTSD. I saw local US Army and USMC personnel engaged in judging close order drill and PT competition, so it was a Joint event too.
The Navy League buys all the trophies, and I had the honor of being on the Awards Presentation team. I have several shots of this year's trophies, and some of past years won by Oviedo HS. It was truly a privilege to participate and you should all be proud of your contribution of service to the Navy League. None of this happens without our members, and we need more!!
With respect,
Andy Mohler
